Decorating Your Garden

Interior Design Principles for Outside Space

Decorate Your Room Outside

Overview

  • Course length: 4 weeks

  • Next start date: 1st June

  • Course price: £120 (Approx. US$192)

  • 100% satisfaction money back guarantee

In this course, I take interior design principals and apply them to your outdoor space. You don’t have to have any design training to do this course. I will go through how to first de-clutter your garden, then identify what you want to use it for, what sort of space you need for each area. Together we will look at measuring up the site and finally furnishing and decorating the space with chairs, tables, seating, sculpture, pots and planting.

Learning outcome: On completion you will be able to furnish and decorate your garden and turn it into a useable room that not only adds space and a new dimension to your living environment but value to your property.

Course Content

Week 1:  What’s your style and how does the outside room measure up?  In the first talk we look at evaluating your space and what you need from that space. We look at what your style is. Then we start to look at how to define the spaces with a variety of configurations. Using open plan or zoning off different areas.

Week 2:  The big decisions – the floor, the walls and furniture. In the second week we look at the big features in the garden – the floor and walls. Getting these basics right will help with the whole scheme. Then we start to look at the big decisions – the furniture, the storage, finishes and colour schemes

Week 3:  All about plants, but plants that are dead easy don’t rule your life.  The third week is all about plants – after all we are talking about gardens so we have to talk about them - but we approach the issue of plants from the point of view of what works for you and what you’re happy to have in your garden. So we use them to bring the garden to life but not to overtake your life and free time.

Week 4:  The finishing touches – bringing personality and life to your space.  Finally we look at the finishing touches – the important decorations and flourishes that will make the difference between brilliant and blurgh.
